The events below fall within the miles distance listed above.
Located in the historic Hillcrest neighborhood and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, The Afterthought (with table seating for approximately 100 in the bar) and its adjoining restaurant occupy a building which served as the town hall for Pulaski Heights before its 1916 annexation by Little Rock. A full menu (shown at afterthoughtbistroandbar.com) is available in the adults-only club during normal restaurant hours. The Arkansas Jazz Heritage Foundation/Arkansas Jazz Hall of Fame holds an occasional meet-and-greet (as well as its special, quarterly, and annual board meetings) at The Afterthought because it is the only Little Rock venue which has presented live jazz continuously - at least once a week - since the 1970s. (That distinction earned the iconic club a place on the map in the first print edition of the Encyclopedia of Arkansas Music, published in September 2013 by the Central Arkansas Library System's Butler Center for Arkansas Studies.) During cold weather, The Afterthought's double-sided fireplace adds warmth to the intimate venue originally designed specifically for jazz.

UPDATE: In November 2015 the decades-long Monday Jazz Night (8:30-11:30 pm, $5 cover) was suspended, but the venue continues to present occasional jazz concerts and include some jazz in its free Tuesday Jam Session (8-11:30 pm). Each Sunday (11 am - 2 pm), Lucas Murray plays jazz guitar during brunch in the restaurant. Though some info may be posted on the venue's Facebook page or under Music on its website, those interested in verifying details about jazz events should call 501.663.1196.
